How Long do Guinea Pigs Sleep For?
If you want to know how long guinea pigs sleep for, you’ve come to the right place. The first thing you should know is guinea pigs are not nocturnal, meaning they usually only do their thing during the day. It makes sense as their eyesight is not very good even during the day.
They will have small naps throughout the day and the evening usually of around 15 to 30 minutes per nap. They don’t actually sleep for a few hours like humans do.
Guinea Pigs love having a house to chill out in and after a full belly of a few bits of celery and carrot – why wouldn’t you snooze!
Do guinea pigs close their eyes whilst sleeping?
Not unless they are really relaxed and feel comfortable with their surroundings. Most of the time they snooze with their eyes open so they are ready to escape if a predator creeps up on them.
Older guinea pigs tend to sleep more than younger guinea pigs. This is probably because they are used to their surroundings… and don’t have too much to worry about.
