Hello, I have two quinea pigs with a beautiful 4 level critter nation cage. My son is allergic to them, so we are needing send them to another home. We are in Cobb County, Ga. Please contact me if you know of any person’s or places in need of guinea pigs.
Hi, my guinea pig Sponge is very pregnant. I got her as a baby last October- I’d say she would’ve been around 6-8 weeks old when we first brought her home. I already had a male, Spike, but I kept the two seperate aside from supervised play time together. The only time I can think of that Sponge could’ve gotten pregnant definitely over 8 weeks ago, I think it must be closer to 10 weeks if not longer…
3 or 4 weeks ago I became fairly certain that Sponge was pregnant due to her undeniably large belly… about 2 weeks ago I started to feel for pups in her belly and sure enough they were there. This last week in particular they have been becoming more and more distinct every day!
I can’t work out how many pups she’s carrying, my guess is at least 2. I have to switch her from an outdoor to an indoor cage each night and when I (very carefully) hold her I can feel the pup/s moving around in her tummy. They’ve gotten so active that I can now see them squirm around in her belly when she’s just sitting normally.
Today, one of them is kicking around so, so much and when I gently stroke the bulge where it’s sitting it will wriggle around and kick against my hand. I’ve tried to feel Sponge’s pelvic bones but I have no idea what I’m feeling for…
I am supposed to go away this weekend but I don’t want to leave her with anybody if she hasn’t yet had her pups incase she has any difficulties during the birthing process. Do you have any rough idea of how I can tell when she might give birth? I thought the high level of baby activity must be a sign they’re just about ready to come out into the big world?
Thanks in advance for your time and any insight you may be able to provide me with!
Warmest regards
